Suing Drunk Drivers and Using Video to Show Impact on the Family

While in many civil cases the use of video to show the impact of the defendant's choice to drink and drive is allowed, sometimes the attempt to use the video is met with an objection of "you honor, that's prejudicial" to the (drunk driver) defendant.

There's an interesting development in the criminal law world where the Supremce Court of the United States has rejected several appeals of defendants sentenced to long term penalities (and, in non drunk driving cases, to death) after prosecutors played very emotional videos depicting the life of the victim. The most recent case where the Supreme Court rejected a defendant's appeal is here.
