The plastic surgeons of the world can now expect a happy Holiday season. Patients are starting to line up for breast augmentation in light of the FDA's decision to allow their use again in this country.

Here's what Public Citizen had to say about the news:

In terms of adverse safety and health information known at the time of approval - such as high rates of rupture, the need for repeat surgery and clear evidence of lymph node infiltration and damage by leaked silicone - silicone gel breast implants are the most defective medical device ever approved by the FDA. The approval makes a mockery of the legal standard that requires "reasonable assurance of safety."

Read another way: Buyer Beware

But guess what? Doctors can't start implanting the new/old implants till they finishe a course. But wait...the course is an internet course. We kid you not.
Interested in implants for youself? Here's Mentor's consumer site. It would appear to be primarily a "find a doctor for me" type site.
