A comment on Before You Make a Virginia Disability Claim, Ensure Your Doctor is On Your Side

Great thoughts! I had this issue and had to actually fire my doctor and start with another one. Not only did he approve my bid for disability, but he approved all sorts of medications, therapies and surgery that the first doctor wouldn't even talk about. Never underestimate a 2nd and 3rd opinion.

Even had to get a 2nd lawyer when my case went before the judge. 1st lawyer would not take my case, because he thought I was too young. 2nd one was before the judge 6 minutes and I won the case.

A comment on What Do I Do if the Insurance Adjuster Offers Me a Settlement

Very good question. The key issue is does the adjuster ever say "You know you deserve more than that?" It's lawyer like Ben who's job to insure not only a proper evaluation but also that those amounts are paid.

A comment on Dish Network Virginia Child Molestation Case--Every Parent's Nightmare

Hey Ben:
This is our case. See my parnter's blog about Judge Hudson's decision at the following link:
In the underlying case, the Dish defendants argue that the sex offender/satellite TV installer they sent to the home was an independent contractor for whom they are not liable. The types of businesses that send workers into our homes with full access the homes seem to go out of their ways to avoid doing background checks on the people they hire. Here is a blog I did about how consumers can protect themselves from this problem.
Mike

A comment on WhoCanISue.com Won't Attract Real Trial Lawyers

All the more unsettling if this is really 'legit.' I can't imagine that this group is going to apparently be a vendor at the American Bar Association meeting and expect that lawyers are going to line up to get involved. Again, with so many decent web sites out there helping people to find lawyers in a responsible way what lawyer would, in this day and age, sign up to be connected with a site that suggests lawyers look around for people to sue and which makes fun at the whole litigation system with a graphic of a man slipping on a banana peel. This will be interesting and we look forward to seeing who, exactly does sign up to try to get cases from this site.

A comment on Senate Finally Questioning Dubious Disability Insurance Practice

You use expression "force", but I believe society is living in some law frame, insurance companies too. Then the question is "are they braking the law?" or not. Any social benefits should be based on some exact conditions and then it's not a misuse - you qualify or not. If they are forcing them and thus braking the law, justice system should work and stop them. I don't want to defend insurance companies, as a broker I am independent and I have no problem to tell my client which company I like and which not, however, talking about morale in business is useless, law should be the mine power to control this environment...
