West Virginia Crack Down On Lawyer Ads

The West Virginia legislature is considering a bill to crack down on lawyer advertising. Apparently some folks don't like those ads that show fistfulls of dollars! (Neither do I). I happen to think it's a good idea and bona fide personal injury lawyers in West Virginia (or anywhere else where ads are toned down) have nothing to worry about. Kevin O'Keefe had a comment about this in his blog.

Look, ultimately it's up to the consumer to separate the good lawyers from the pretenders but meanwhile, everytime YOUR lawyer goes in front of a jury the irresponsible advertising of SOME taints YOUR case. Think about that.
If you lawyer flies to earth on a spaceship in a TV ad you probably ought to settle you case because juries remember that stuff and it ain't pretty.
